About the retreat

The 2026 AI for Science Retreat is an invitation-only gathering hosted by Edison Scientific in Big Sky, Montana. We're bringing together scientists, AI researchers, drug developers, clinical leaders, company builders, and funders to explore how AI can help more medicines succeed and reduce the time from idea to approval.

Over two and a half days, we'll examine what's working, what's holding progress back, and what needs to change in how medicines are developed, tested, and funded. Our goal is to lay out a roadmap for AI in medicine that can guide key decisions in the years ahead.

What to expect

Conversations, not presentations.

Moderator-led sessions built around a few core questions, with everyone invited to contribute and help shape the discussion.

Ideas worth pursuing.

Space to challenge assumptions, share early thinking, and explore ideas that could become new experiments, collaborations, or projects.

Time to connect.

Smaller conversations, outdoor activities, and unstructured time to get to know people working on different parts of the same challenges.

A little Montana spirit.

Western-themed dinners and time to enjoy Big Sky. Cowboy boots and hats are encouraged.

Hotel and travel

If you've RSVP'd, your room at Montage Big Sky is taken care of for check-in on Sunday, October 4 and check-out on Tuesday, October 6 (or the dates you indicated on your RSVP). There's no need to contact the hotel directly.

If you haven't yet booked a flight, our travel coordinator, Donna Eldred, is available to help. Please reach out as soon as possible at edisonscientific@volare.travel.

If you haven't yet confirmed your flight information with us, or need to change your travel details, please contact us right away at bigsky2026@edisonscientific.com so we can arrange your airport transfer.

Airport Transfers

Edison will provide transportation between Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and Montage Big Sky for confirmed attendees. To help us coordinate airport transfers, please share your flight details with bigsky2026@edisonscientific.com once your travel is booked.

Attire

Montage Big Sky has a down-to-earth but elegant style. Smart, comfortable attire is appropriate throughout the gathering, including collared shirts, blouses and nice jeans.

Some activities will take place outdoors, and Montana mornings and evenings can be cold even when days are warm. Check the forecast before you pack and bring layers you can easily add or remove.

Bring your cowboy boots, hats, and other western-themed attire. They'll be right at home for our western-themed dinners and activities.

Arrival transfers

1 hr 10 min from BZN to Big Sky

Transfers have been arranged from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN) to Montage Big Sky for all guests who have provided their flight details (unless you have advised us that you are making your own way).

A seat has been reserved for you on a shuttle timed to connect with your arrival.

Your individual shuttle number and departure time should have been emailed to you already, please take this as confirmation of your transport.

We can only guarantee a seat if you confirmed your flight information with us and received an email confirming your transfer. If you haven't received one, please contact the team right away at bigsky2026@edisonscientific.com.

On arrival at BZN

After you exit the plane, follow signs for Baggage Claim. You'll take the escalator from the second floor down to the first floor.

At the bottom of the escalator, look for Donna from our travel team. She'll be holding a “Transfers” sign with the AI for Science Retreat logo. Stop and check in with her.

Collect your checked bags at baggage claim, just steps away, then meet back up with Donna, who will walk you to your vehicle.

Boarding your shuttle

Transfers are scheduled around groups of arriving flights, so there may be a short wait for other guests travelling on your shuttle.

If your plans change

If your flight is delayed, canceled or your travel plans have changed, contact Donna or the Edison travel team as soon as possible. See contact information. Please don't arrange alternative transport without contacting the team first — and if you've changed your flight since submitting your travel details, let the team know so your transfer allocation can be updated.

Return transfers

Return transfers from Montage Big Sky to Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport (BZN), unless otherwise noted, run on departure day for attendees who have provided their flight information. Your shuttle number and departure time will be confirmed before you leave.

On departure

Please be ready in the hotel lobby 15 minutes before your scheduled shuttle departure, with your luggage, so the vehicle can leave promptly.

Please note

Transfer times are planned around guests on similar flight schedules and include journey and check-in time. Because these are shared transfers, shuttles can't wait for late passengers. If your flight or plans change, let the travel team know as soon as possible — and please don't arrange alternative transport without contacting us first, as it may affect others on your shuttle.
